As a Malaysian person, it was such a pleasant surprise to see a Malaysian bun franchise in Montreal! Call me (super) biased, but I obviously liked the ones in Malaysia better. But the ones here were pretty up to the Malaysian standard.
The bun was super super crispy and was served warm, as it is supposed to. One thing though, they did stray a little from the authentic 'coffee bun' in Malaysia since the bun didn't taste like coffee at all. It was just a normal bun (a really good one though). I also like mine with extra butter, so this wasn't really my taste, but that's just me. The price wasn't too expensive for me as well, which is always a plus.
I gave this a 3-star also because of the staff's inefficiency. They were counting their tips while we were looking for something to order instead of asking us what we might want, and took a long time to get our order. I feel like they could have performed much better in that sense (but if you're really into the whole casual vibe, this place might be for you. It's just the Japanese blood in me screaming that efficiency is vital in customer satisfaction).
Overall, it was pretty awesome to see that a cafe is serving one of my favourite Malaysian pastries and doing it quite the justice. I would recommend it to friends who haven't tried the bun before in Malaysia!
