Our 9 week puppy became ill in a matter of hours. She was acting very strange. Her ears were pinned back and she couldn't lay down. She would only sit. Her head was jerking side to side, she couldn't control it. It was apparent something was very wrong.
We took her to VCA PV Animal Hospital at around 7pm. They did blood work, which looked fine. Without knowing what was wrong they gave her an anti-nausea shot and a Benadryl shot as well. For $400 we were sent home with an "I don't really know what's wrong" and "Maybe it's an allergy" to "Wait and see."
Over the next 2 hours, she continued to get worse. It was almost like a seizure that didn't stop. We were terrified.
We took her to Emergency Animal Clinic on Scottsdale Road just South of Pinnacle Peak. They were fantastic! They told us she was probably having a reaction to an accidental ingestion of a medicine, (which ended up being adderall) and wanted to do a urine test. Within 10 minutes they figured it out, and put her on fluids. They sedated her so she could finally sleep, and kept her overnight. She is doing GREAT!.
VCA PV Hospital was a waste of precious time and money. The Vet gave her Benadryl without even knowing what was wrong, and may have made it worse. He told us not to worry, it was probably an allergic reaction to something. They gave our puppy pseudoephedrine (Benadryl) without knowing what was wrong. Mixing that with dextroamphetamine (adderall) can increase blood pressure and heart rate, and combining them can be dangerous.
I would never recommend them, and encourage you STRONGLY to go somewhere else.
I only gave them a star because my review wouldn't post without my choosing.
