When your pet dies, you lose a piece of your family. Last week, our sweet Daisy passed away. We were so distraught trying to find an emergency clinic and the closest place was VCA. When we brought her in there, the two girls at the front staff had no reaction. I can understand becoming numb to these situations but during this time, it would have been great to hear some kind words. From the time we left, they had nothing to say as we signed our paperwork to have our precious girl cremated. To them, it just seemed like another transaction.
Today, we picked up the remains of our baby in a container that closely resembles that of a chinese to-go container. The sticker on the urn had her name misspelled. This is astonishing to me since on the paperwork we had written our last name and her last name at least three times.
It would have been wonderful if we had the option to have her paw imprint like they do at other facilities. This weekend we will be ordering a different urn to reflect how special she was to us. I will never recommend VCA to any of my close friends or family. A very disheartening experience that I don't wish anyone to go through. If you want to work in this profession, you must learn how to better react in these situations and provide comfort to those who enter your doors.
