I have been at Bellair about 4 times for Fraxal treatments to treat melasma and I would have to say it was a hit and miss situation. I found that there is no miracle cure and that I still have pigmentation. I would have to say it has gotten lighter but has not gone away. The technicians are nice but not as knowledgeable and rely on the senior nurses to assess what the settings should be to get the results you are looking for. After the first treatment there was no change which was expected as it was just the beginning. My second treatment was at a higher setting and was quite painful but I got through it. I found that my skin was took about 5-6 days to heal and there was peeling which was expected aswell. I still didn't feel the pigmentation issue was getting resolved. My 3rd treatment I discussed my concerns and the nurse recommended dual laser treatment which was a harsher treatment, I had to have a second round of cooling gel as it was just too painful for me. This treatment actually helped with the pigmentation but it was quite harsh and my skin was very red for weeks. I was told to continue using Hydroquinone 1 week after each Fraxal treatment which I did. The face did seem smoother 2 weeks post treatments but this wore off. I took a longer break after the dual fraxal treatment as I found my skin had become quite sensitive. he healing did take longer and was harsh on my forehead my whole face was like a rough piece of sandpaper. I used gentle scrubs after a few days to get rid of the sandpaper like skin so that I wouldn't try to peel the dried up skin. I didn't feel that this treatment reduced the fine lines as suggested and that it is quite over priced for the benefit which is minimal. I went for my 4 th treatment and decided that the dual was too much so now it was me that was discussing the settings and detailing what I thought the settings should be. For this treatment i really needed two times the cooling gel for 25 min each as after the first cooling my skin was just too sensitive to tolerate the laser. I finally got my single Fraxal treatment and went home. Again the pigmentation had gotten a little lighter but was not gone so I am not completely satisfied. Also this had left my skin very red so I have decided not to pursue this further. My biggest disappointment with the treatments have been that over time my skin has sagged and I have gotten more visible crows feet and finer lines especially around the cheek area and my jawline has sagged a bit, which in turn makes me look older. I generally had a very young appearance and very few fine lines so the purpose of these treatments were not to age quicker but to eliminate the pigmentation. Also I found that the make now sits in the grooves of the fine lines a problem a problem that was non existent before. My recommendation is that if you have severe pigmentation/Melasma then consider doing it on just those spots and not the whole face, which was suggested to me by the personnel at Bellair. After reading many reviews online I also found that others had experienced some sagging and fine lines surfacing from nowhere post treatments. I still look ok but I would have probably not jumped into this treatment if I had known what I know today. I guess there is a price for everything. I would not do this treatment again.
