| - Beware of this location. A few months ago I bring a car in for $59 alignment- they tell me the ball joints and bushings are bad... 62,000 Miles; and one of the 2 upper bushings had already been replaced less than 6 months prior at a different shop. They said it was improperly installed & I agree to the service and end up with $300 bill....
2 months later I brought a second car in with 55,000 Miles for a simple alignment after shocks/springs replaced- steering wheel not centered but car doesn't pull. They tell me a similar story- all bushings and ball joints are bad - and this time they tell me the idler arm is bad; but I personally had just replaced it less than 4k miles ago!! This is a former government vehicle that was well maintained! They tell me I need over $900 worth of work & they won't align it because it's throwing money away- and I tell them forget it, I'll go somewhere else.... Then they come back and say okay, we'll do the alignment??
So they did the alignment and now the car pulls to the right- they told me it's the tires pulling, not the car. They swap the tires and it still pulls. I've NEVER had a car pull after a proper alignment.... At least they did not charge me for the "service".
Twice they played the "you need new parts" game on me, with parts that were fairly new. Twice when confronted that the parts were new, their response was that they were either improperly installed or "bad, straight out of the box". I don't off-road with these cars! Straight highway driving. I buy most of my parts at O'reilleys and I've never had any issues with parts failing.
The bottom line is beware- I feel like they are upselling unnecessary parts/service. 2 cars, 2 similar claims of faulty installation or parts; 2 jacked-up estimates to repair; I don't believe it. I feel like they have untrained or poorly trained kids working in the shop since they all look to be 16-19 yrs old, and metal music is blasting loudly through the shop.
Therefore, I will look for another shop that doesn't BS me and try to rape me over parts/service that aren't needed, or F-up my car!
Update: I went & got a second opinion at a different shop on the same day, and the upper ball joints & sway links were indeed bad, but not idler arm and lower ball joints as Brake Masters quoted. The quoted price at the other shop was $375 out-the-door, including new alignment. Big difference.
