  • Being a sister shop to Monta Ramen, I honestly came here with low expectations the first time I visited. Boy, was I so glad to be wrong! Location: This is located in the southwest part of town next to Cafe Rio. When entering, you are able to see workers making fresh batches of noodles. However, the shop is very small. Aside from around 10 seats at the bar, there are only around 5 other tables in the rest of the shop. It is very tight with not much room to move around. They only seat full parties so be wary if you are bringing a big group. It will take a while to finally be seated. There is almost always a wait during peak hours, but I have never waited more than 20 minutes for a party of 2-3 because of how fast everything is. Menu: The menu is short and sweet. You just choose your broth, spice level, and extra toppings you may want to add. All bowls of ramen come with Chashu pork, Kikurage black mushrooms, bamboo shoots, green chives, ground pork, sesame oil, and shredded red pepper. There are also other dishes to eat like the pork belly bowl and kimchi fried rice. Food: Be careful about the spice! The mild spice already has some kick to it, so be wary of the spice level you choose. Broth is rich and has a lot of flavor, but is not nauseatingly fatty. The noodles are very thick and capture the taste of the broth very well. There is also a decent amount of ground pork and a huge slab of chashu. There is enough where you have some with almost every bite, but does not overpower the dish itself. The portions are very big for a price of around $10 without any add-ins. Thankfully, adding additional ingredients are for a reasonable price & I always leave the shop feeling very satisfied and full. I've been dying to try their non-ramen dishes, but I always end up opting for ramen last minute. Hopefully soon, I could break this curse and finally give them a try! Service: Workers are very nice, prompt and accommodating. Food comes out fast and I don't think they have ever gotten my order wrong from the many times I've visited. I never felt rushed or pressured to leave, though they do a great job at ensuring wait times are not horrendous. The quality of the ramen and the genuinely kind workers are what convince me to frequently make the 30 minute drive from where I live to eat at Ramen Kobo. This establishment deserves more attention than it is currently getting. I truly believe this is one of the best ramen shops in town!
