Took my 4 month Boston Terrier in for his first time check up and possible ear infection a few weeks ago and wasn't too impress with how Banfield charges first time patients . First, the positives of this place is flexibility in making and modifying the appointment times. They have long hours and accommodate most schedules. The vet assistant Ashley and Dr. Seman were friendly yet I didn't like the fact I was told there was a $40 extra charge to run a test prior to prescribing the meds for my dog's ear infection. Granted the first vet visit is free and I would think a vet would know what to prescribe after advising to me it's a fungal infection, yet the $40 extra charge seems bogus. Upsell or not, I rather be told, "your vet visit is x amount of dollars and we will treat the symptoms". I understand medications are a separate fee yet charging for a diagnostic for treatment? Why just charge me the vet fee so I know it goes toward the knowledge and expertise of that vet. That in itself is disappointing and most likely I will not go back.
