We took our $3000.00 Rotti here for shots and board while we flew to Colorado to bury my brother in law who was killed in a tragic car accident and while we were helping my elderly father in law deal with the entire situation. After about 7 days we went to pick him up and were met with a $477.00 bill instead of the approximate $300.00 we were originally expecting. The bill was fixed and brought down to $360.00 dollars, but that was really unethical for them to try to slam us with that after previous conversations about cost specifically.
When we got our puppy home we noticed immediately he was sick with either kennel cough or the dog flu. In a short 5 to 6 days he was in obvious distress and literally dying. We took him back in on emergency in the evening. At first we were met with a disbelief and attitude from the doctor as to why we thought he should be there on emergency that evening instead of waiting until morning. I told them I was no vet but I know my dog and he's dying and I know if we had waited until morning he would've been dead. After about 40 minutes in the waiting room finally the doctor came in with a completely different attitude and told us he was close to being septic and showed us an xray of his lungs nearly full of pneumonia.
At this point we spoke specifically about treatment options and costs.
$2000.00 later we are told he is still sick and he has a possibility of scare tissue and may not ever recover fully from this illness. After having just paid for my brothers funeral and now taking on the care of my father in law, the on going medical care was going to continue to be costly with no guarantee he would even pull through and have a good quality of life, so we had to choose to put him down.
We specifically asked and told them we needed to know at what point to stop treatment before the bill was to high due to the circumstances and was still met with this $2000.00 bill and a grim out look for his healthy future and a good quality of life for him.
After two days of tears and painful decisions I sought counsel on the matter.
My dog was completely healthy before coming to this place. He contracted something while in their care that lead to his immediate demise. This vet is completely responsible for the illness of our dog and therefore should be completely responsible for all costs incurred at minimum. This vet should be taking full responsibility for this situation and should be apologetic for all the emotional distress they have put us through and are putting us through.
Not only did they take away our prize puppy, but they took away a loved member of our family. They destroyed our ability to send him to school, breed him, show him and properly care for him so that we could all have a healthy beneficial future together AND they want to charge me for that.
Now I'm faced with having to tell my children he's not coming home.
I absolutely do not recommend this place.
