Our 9 year old vizsla collapsed right before bed on a Saturday night. Vetmed was the closest 24 hour facility to our house. I'm so glad we went there. Our sweet Copper ended up having hemangiosarcoma and didn't make it. However, the care he and we received from Dr. Beckwith (I hope it was her- middle of the night and very emotional) was amazing. She is a great doctor and a great person. She kept us informed all night of how he was doing. At 3:00 AM, when it was obvious he wasn't going to make it, she called and sat with Copper (talking to him and soothing him) until our family could get there. They immediately gave us something soft to sit on since he was being kept in an oxygen kennel and it was low to the ground. When I saw Copper and how much pain he was in I asked for him to be euthanized, and I was so impressed by how quickly she took care of it so that he didn't suffer any longer than needed. They didn't overcharge us even though it all took place on a weekend in the middle of the night.
