  • I don't get it. I wanted to like this place so badly. After all, it's a Pittsburgh institution. Unfortunately, it just wasn't good. I like smaller ice cream joints because you can usually taste the dairy a little more, but it just wasn't possible through so much sugar. Both my husband and I found our ice cream to be sweet to the point of inedible and we both ended up throwing ours away. We made the mistake of getting ice cream at Wafflonia a couple of times before realizing the reason that it was so horribly sweet was that it was from Dave & Andy's. We get our waffles plain now. I also don't get the reviews praising the different flavors. Unless you've never set foot outside of a Dairy Queen, any ice cream parlor worth its salt will be routinely trying new flavors. The problem is that everyone tries them, and few order them, for a reason.
