| - Today I've learned a very valuable lesson that has cost me $30: Just because a restaurant is featured on Food Network (Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives) does NOT mean it's serves good quality food. On the show you see Guy Fieri in the kitchen with the main dude (I assume the owner of the restaurant) prepare some rather savory looking meats. I wish he could have been in the kitchen today when I paid my visit because whoever was back there does NOT know how to cook!! Let me just say the pros first, before I get to the many, many, MANY cons. Nick is the manager who took my order and who later took my complaint over the phone when I arrived home to discover this food is purely wack. He is very nice and professional ( I really appreciated that), although he did not offer to refund my money after I told him about how disgusting my meal was. The other pro, is yes....the pork IS tender and it falls off the bone just like what everyone says. That's where the good news stops. On to the bad. I ordered the 1/2 rack pork ribs dinner with the 2 sides (mac & cheese and beer battered fries). I also ordered the fried pork tenderloin sandwich with potato salad. For desert, the Miss Piggy. The ribs were nothing special. I know this BBQ has won many awards, but I swear I've tasted MUCH better sauce sold in grocery stores, such as Kraft spicy honey or something like that. I mean, the BBQ was OK. That's it. Simply OK. The "beer batter fries" are NOT battered at all! They are simply steak fries with NO batter whatsoever. They are basically fries you can get from Wendy's for a $1.00. I called the manager and asked him about it. He told me, "We get the fries from a company...they are supposed to be battered." I said, "Well, they're not. They're plain potatoes with NO batter." I told him that the menu should not advertise something they don't have; because, that's why I order them---so I could taste and experience the beer batter fries, but nothing doing. On to the mac and cheese. I guess the people who don't complain about the mac and cheese have no reference point of what mac and cheese is supposed to taste like. I am a self proclaim mac and cheese connoisseur and I can honestly tell you I have never in my life tasted mac and cheese worse than what is served at Thee Pitts Again. For starters it's shell noodles were cooked into a gummy, clumpy, paste. It's like glue, actually. On top of that, there is WAAAAY too much black pepper in it. You can visibly see large pieces of black pepper all throughout the mac and cheese. So here you have a hot peppery glue of a dish. Nice. I called Nick and told him about it. He said that others have said the mac and cheese is too hot as well. Uh...I would suggest they stop putting 2 cups of pepper in it?? Right? OK, on to the potato salad. But wait...I can't review that because someone forgot to put my side item (I ordered with the fried pork tenderloin sandwich) in the bag! That's right. I got all the way home to discover they did not put the potato salad in the bag. Based on my horrid experience, maybe it was a blessing in disguise. The Universe probably spared me from eating something more devastating than that elementary school paste mac and cheese. So, getting jacked out of my potato salad was probably a good thing. The fried pork tenderloin sandwich was good. Good in a sense that I was able to take 3 bits before I said, "Uuuh, I've had enough." It's salty. Very, very salty. And, it's greasy as well. Not the run of the mill greasy, but the I just soaked this bad boy in some cold ass Crisco for 20 minutes kind of greasy. I didn't finish it. I threw it out. If I didn't love my dogs, I'd given it to them, but I didn't want to be the cause of closing up their tiny dog arteries. OK, let's press on to desert. The Miss Piggy desert is described so beautifully on the menu. It gives the illusion that the desert is some mammoth confectioners delight. Thee Pitts Again is Wrong Again. All it is..is an over priced brownie. That's it. $4.99 for a brownie. Period. It is safe to say that I will never go back to that place. The sign on the restaurant is very telling. It IS the pits!
