| - My Doctor: Dr. Jacqueline Belen
Location: right off the 101 and 51st Ave., tucked back off the street
Facility: very nicely decorated, modern and tasteful. TVs in the lobby. "Sick" area cordoned off in the corner, great idea. Very cold, my toes went numb. Also no bathroom in the lobby.
Wait time: I arrived early to fill out paperwork and completed it quickly. Wasn't taken back until 30min AFTER my appointment was supposed to have started, and that was only because I went back to the front and asked them to please have them take me back.
Dr. Belen and MA: very nice and personable. Dr. Belen took the time to personally review the paperwork I filled out and ask me questions regarding my health history. This was just an annual check-up, but she also encouraged me to ask any questions I had floating around in my brain. She was quick, but also efficient and thorough. I didn't feel "rushed" but the appointment time was alot shorter than I expected.
Other staff: I was given lab orders to complete at their in-house lab. If I do go back to Dr. Belen, I will REFUSE to be drawn at this lab. I politely asked the tech what a certain test was for (it was abbreviated, I'd never heard of it), and she very bluntly and rudely said "I can't tell you that." When I prodded her for an answer, she said "you'll have to ask Dr. Belen. I don't answer questions, I just draw labs." She never offered to get the MA or Dr. Belen to explain what the test was for. She drew me up without me ever knowing what the tests were for.
Results: I was called back with my test results about a week after I had them done. This is a little longer than I had expected but not completely out of the norm.
I really like Dr. Jacqueline Belen and her MA and hope that I can return to their care next year when it's time for my annual. However, I hope that their wait time speeds up (30 minutes is pretty silly) and that they review patient care with their lab techs. I work in a medical facility and even if they aren't permitted to discuss the labs with their patients, they should still offer to fetch the doctor or MA. Patient care comes first!
