| - On my trips to Pittsburgh, this has become a new stop for my husband and I! It is a fantastic place to just relax with a beer and even some food from a food truck if they have one on site that day. If you're not into whatever is on the food truck, they also offer homemade pepperoni rolls at the bar and ice cream sandwiches.
As for the beer selection, there are so many options here! There really seems to be something for everyone. Some other breweries in the area have way too many hoppy beers for my liking, but Grist house has such a variety!
I think what I like most is the atmosphere. This place is so dog friendly, so if you're a dog person, you might go here just to get a dog fix. The variety of people that are at this brewery enjoying a beer is nice to see, too. It is family friendly, so you'll see people bringing their kids, too. There are plenty of sitting options, and a lot of outdoor or semi-outdoor seating.
However, the seating arrangements would be the one reason I've bumped this from 5 to 4 stars at this point, along with the service. Both times I've been here, the place has been extra crowded. It seems like they have more space to where they can add more tables, so I'm not sure why they haven't done that yet. My group and I had to mill around for a while before we found any seats, and even then we just found a standing table.
As for the service, it just is so slow when they are crowded. It seems they need more staff out on a beautiful Sunday in Pittsburgh, or on a Saturday night, which seems like a no brainer to me! I'm sure it is just growing pains as this place grows in popularity, but I hope they get it under control soon!
Overall, though, this is a fantastic place to spend some time in Pittsburgh and grab a beer on a beautiful day!
