My boyfriend and I have done this hike twice since moving to Arizona a year ago. Both times were in the early afternoon and It is the perfect hike for getting in REAL exercise but not totally over-doing it. It is considered a difficult hike but, I would really disagree. There trail has many man-made steps that lead all the way to the top. I saw children as young as 6 or 7 booking it to the very top of the mountain. The view from the peak is breath-taking (because I was out of breath). There were many runners on the trail, which I was surprised by. If you go in December, the shade and wind can make it quite cold so bring a jacket. Don't forget water!
