  • As someone completely new to making my own coffee and who just bought and aeropress, I figured I needed to find a good roastery for beans and advice. Rising star was the perfect place to go for me, as the baristas were some of the friendliest I've seen. I let them know that I had just gotten an aeropress, and they took their time to explain to me all sorts of tips on how to use the aeropress, what ratios to use for beans/water, recommended water temps, etc. I got fantastic advice from some really awesome, down to earth people. I then ordered a drink to see their aeropress in action (the Brazilian beans) along with a bag of beans to go home with. All in all, a lovely experience, along with some delicious coffee :) The establishment itself is pretty minimalist, with just one table, a counter with various coffee making devices, and then bags of beans in the back. Like others have noted, there wasn't much room for sitting down, so people who stayed in the store would pick at magazines, chat with each other, or watch the baristas in action. There also isn't much room in the area, so it really is a place for your to grab your coffee and go.
