It's been a few years since we've been here. Now I remember why.
Came for lunch. Initially we were going to use restaurant.com but then realized the offer really wasn't worth it. $15 does not go very far here. All the dishes are expensive. Even the buffet is expensive. We opted for the buffet.
I tried a bit of everything. I honestly can't remember the names of all of it now. The spinach mash tasted like spinach. I didn't detect anything interesting there. The chick peas (garbanzos) had a really nice sauce that was a bit spicy. Pretty good. The tandori chicken was nothing special. The tikka (chicken) was very mild. I could tell it was tikka, but it wasn't strong or bold at all. And they had some sort of ground lamb dish that was interesting. The saffron rice was very nice.
I agree with other reviews that it is nice this is a family-owned enterprise. I like to support "mom and pop" eateries. But they can't take that support for granted. For the prices charged the food should have been much more exciting. There are other choices for Indian cuisine, and many deliver on the bold flavors. And they do it often for less money.
And no mango lasse was offered in the buffet (unlike a couple other restaurants I know).
So sort of a mixed bag. Some dishes were more interesting than others, but none were really bold or exciting. Probably the chick peas and the saffron rice were their best offerings, and those arguably are just side dishes. If I had the choice I'd go with 2.5 stars, but I don't. And with so many better options for Indian cuisine for both flavor and value, I just can't go to 3 stars.
