  • No use wasting any more energy or time on this business so I'll make this short and sweet. Found these guys on groupon, called to make an appointment for a contact exam and I mentioned I found them on Groupon. The Groupon specifically states: "$51 for a standard eye exam with $150 credit toward prescription glasses or $50 toward contacts (a $450 value) $85 for an HD eye exam with $150 credit toward prescription glasses or $50 toward contacts (a $500 value)" I arrive at my appointment time. I again mention the fact I found them on Groupon and I would like a Contact Exam. The receptionist tells me that the contact exam is not included in the Groupon (which would've been nice to know when I was on the phone scheduling my appointment and before driving 30 mins to this business..) So I say okayyy, fine I will pay full price for the contact exam which she specified was $85. The receptionist then proceeds to tell me that I cannot get a contact exam unless I pay the $51 dollars for the "Standard Eye Exam". Mind you this is the first time anyone has mentioned this to me, so my $51 exam ended up turning into a $85 exam which then increased to a $150+ dollar exam after taxes! I told her that I have a recent eye prescription from another doctor and she wouldn't accept it. Normally I would admit my mistakes and take full responsibility for my ignorance and failure to read the small print on the Groupon ad but it is also a good business practice to make sure that your client knows what they're getting themselves into before having to show up and expect something that they should not. It's obvious what they're doing which is using groupon to take advantage of customers by thinking they're getting something they're not, then once they show up and realize what's really in front of them most people don't want to deal with the hassle of looking for another Optometrist and trying to figure out a way to fit it into their schedule so they give in to the scam but thank god I wasn't one of those people.
