| - This would have been the worst salon experience of my life had it not been for Rayna at the end... but I'll get to that later. I've never been here before, but the reviews here seemed decent, so when searching for a nice salon to get my hair cut and styled for a friends wedding, I thought I'd give it a shot. So I booked a hair cut AND STYLE with one of the Senior stylists, Emma. I explained what I wanted - a few inches of the damaged length of hair taken off, and then proceeded to describe what I had in mind for my style, "I wanted to look a little glamorous - it's a fancy wedding - I'm thinking old Hollywood?" She was quick to clip in and say that I wasn't booked for a style, it's just a haircut. But the package is a "hair cut and style", right? Yes, but the style only included something like a blow-out. Ummm... alrightey then..
I said that was fine, but you know, maybe go a little extra with the round brush to make the ends extra round/bouncy (I even made some hand motions through the hair for good measure!) So she starts, the hair-cut part was super fast, over in 5 minutes. I've never had one that quick before! But figured, hey, maybe she's really good at what she does! She then proceeded the blow-out with a massive round brush. I obviously can't see what she's doing in the back clearly, but its looking a little too "straight". I throw hints here and there, point to the ladies around with nice curled hair, hoping she gets it and leaving my trust on her that she knows what she's doing. Finally, after it's over, the result is completely flat. Not a single bouncy flick that I'm accustomed to receiving. As if it was flat ironed straight. I was not pleased and mentioned it. She responds that if I wanted it to curl/flick, she would have to use a curling iron and it'll cost me $15 extra. WHAT? I respond that you could have achieved a similar result with a smaller round brush too... she replies with, "Yeah, but the hair is dry now". I don't know what was with her... maybe she was crabby from a late night, maybe her day was going to be super busy and she just wanted to get rid of me... I don't know. I thought at least the hair CUT was nice enough - until a few days later after I re-washed my hair I notice small chunks that were inches longer than the rest. How is this person a SENIOR???
I was not happy at all!!! I leave all upset, planning to write a scathing review... but what's the point? It'll probably just get read and discarded... or not read at all because this is becoming ridiculously long! Anyway, so I decide to go back and voice my concerns directly to the salon manager. The receptionists were really nice - they go and chat with the manager, explain the situation and arranges Rayna to restyle my hair. She was sooo sweet, lovely and completely turned the whole event around. She was attentive, listened to what I was hoping for, let me show her the pics of example styles that Emma didn't give me the chance to show her. She ended up having to use curling tongs, because the hair was dry. If I hadn't gone back, I would have just left with the impression that the salon sucks and the staff do not value their clients. But at least now I know that that is not the case - just be careful with who you go to. Beware of Emma.
