| - There aren't too many (maybe no) places like this in Las Vegas! To be honest, I'm not much of a coffee drinker but my mother is so when she visits, she usually likes to go out as least once for coffee. It seems that in other parts of the country, there are numerous independent coffee shops which are typically urban in setting and many times are scattered around university areas. Not so in LV. Sure, there's the Coffee Bean near UNLV but I believe that's a national chain. Like a dope, on her last visit I took her to the Starbucks down the street (which she happens to like btw) but it just didn't have the cool eclectic feel that we were looking for. Enter The Beat! Granted, this establishment also serves food and alcohol as well as sells records (cool!!) but for Las Vegas, it's about the only coffee shop that we could find that was both independent and had an eclectic, urban feel. We'll definitely be back. Also, although we were able to sit outside, it would be nice if there was more than one outdoor table.
Update: I just saw on the local news that the Beat is closing in September, 2016.
