Though I've stayed at Nuvo twice now, I still find it difficult to review. First off let me say that I don't think Nuvo is a bad place, I just don't think it is worth anywhere near what they are charging. I kind of feel ripped off.
They charge $149 for suites on the the first floor and an additional $10 for a suite with a balcony. The suites are a bachelor pad concept with bed, kitchen, bathroom and washer dryer. The bed and couch are comfy. There are air conditioning units inside the suites. One is usually a powerful one that is so ridiculously loud that it makes it difficult to hear the TV at a normal volume or even have a conversation in the room at a normal volume. The other is so weak it's not worth turning on. On both occasions I found it difficult to use the remote control for the TVs. I found the shower small and caddy in the shower was rusted on both occasions. That grossed me out a little. Also the floors have all sorts of scuff marks on them which also grossed me out.
They also have this quirky rule that one cannot check in until 3 pm. That isn't very accommodating to the customer's schedule. Furthermore, the front desk has office hours from 9am - 10 pm which begs the question what if you need something during the night. That doesn't seem accommodating to the client. But I guess it is the age old adage for this place. Location, location, location. So if they price it slightly lower than what the chains price at they will always sell out.
I do like the location. It's just outside the downtown core, near the Safeway and right next to the liquor barn which has reasonably priced alcohol. It also has wifi which is cool.
I just don't think it's worth anywhere near what they are charging. Just an opinion. Oh and you may want to wear ear plugs, there tend to be a lot of police sirens that go off in the night.
