| - I apologize for referencing just this hotel because my beef is with the Marriott Corporation. I belong to Marriott Rewards and was sent an e-mail on November 18 titled a "Holiday Gift For You." It stated our family could stay at any participating Marriott between Nov. 23 and Jan. 2, 2016 for $89 for room and breakfast for two. We tried to utilize that promotion for Saturday, Dec. 19 at the Fairfield Inn, Monaca, Pa. We stayed there before and loved it. But when I tried online, the code to stay there for that rate wasn't accepted. I called Marriott Customer Service who suggested calling the hotel directly. I did but they said the code given wouldn't register us, but suggested we register for $129 and try to get Customer Care to change the rate. I declined to go that route. So I called Customer Care again and the new representative said only so many rooms per hotel are allocated. I said alright, but we're trying to reserve an accessible room. She said it didn't matter. Then she checked for me and said no Marriott property in western Pa......Residence, Fairfield, Courtlyard, etc.....had a room available Dec. 19 for that rate. So I asked for a supervisor to call me and that occurred this morning. I spoke with a woman named Michelle who said no Pittsburgh area Marriott is "participating", which is different from what I was told previously. I said what kind of gift is that then? I said we had hoped to use the Monaca Fairfield as a place where we could visit with family because of its accessibility. Michelle said she could get us in a New York City Marriott for that rate. I said that was crazy....that's in another state. I asked .....so you just can't ask an area Marriott to honor that rate? She then took a minute and came back and said she could get us into a Cleveland Marriott and was mean about it. Cleveland.....now that's convenient for Pittsburgh area families to visit? It is obvious to me that this "Holiday Gift" is a blatant "bait and switch" effort and I will report it appropriately. The shame is I joined Marriott years ago when our income was much better. I was impressed by the service at an Indianapolis Marriott where a national Spina Bifida Conference was held. This type of service, and attitude, is beneath the normal behavior of this hotel chain.
