High Park gets a lot of attention in the summer, but let's not forget how peaceful it can be in the winter.
I recently walked around the west side trails, which have some great hills if you're looking for a bit of exercise, and it was clear and bright and white. People whizzed by me on skis occasionally, but for the most part, I heard nothing but the rustling of squirrels and creaking of trees.
It is one of the only places in the city where I can actually convince myself for a second that I'm not in the city.
