  • So I bought a groupon here and didn't realize that drinks were not actually included, but it was definitely a smart way for the restaurants to lure you in for some eats, while trying their vast selection of in house crafted cocktails and upgrades modern classics. Between my friend and I, we shared probably half the menu including: * Greens salad with crispy tortilla chips * Chilled Pea soup * spirit house poutine with pulled duck * tempuraed white fish tacos with avocado and chipotle dill * Baby octopus with chorizo and potatos * special dessert - two-bite deep friend mars bar To be honest, nothing stood out at all. I was not tempted to get seconds of anything and everything was very.......meh. The greens salad (although I had requested for dressing on the side) was nothing but greens and carrot and tomato and cucumber. The chips seemed way out there and it was boring. I was excited for the duck poutine but the meat was hard and not tender at all, while I did not find enough sauce to coat all the fries. However - I have to say that out of everything ordered, this may have been the only thing I actually enjoyed. The white fish tacos was wayyyyy deep fried, with a thick layer of batter coating a tiny piece of fish. There was literally one slice of avocado on the taco (they could have done something with it?) but the chipotle was okay, thank goodness the dill did not power through. The baby octopus was... just that - baby sized, but I found it over grilled and too smokey. The potatoes were okay, and once again nothing special and there wasn't enough mint. I ordered the cucumber basil smash which was supposed to be extermely refreshing, but I found it rather sweet and ordinary. The london clock tower was a nice new invention created by the bartender and a much better drink selection. Considering the place was pretty empty when we arrived, it took absolutely forever to get our drinks (probably 10 minutes per order), and the food at least 30, and they did not even come out all at the same time. I would have no problem for each dish to be served as it was ready, but in the end, their timing for simultaneously plating was off. Although the waitress was nice enough to check on it, I found the place to be understaffed. As more people came in, it was harder to communicate.. maybe the acoustics are poor in the space. The lounge area is very lovely with old school bookcase feel and lounge chairs and couches. Definitely a place to check out but don't expect top knotch service or out of the world food because you're not going to get it.
