| - Oooh wee!
So I had to come here 3 times this week because the first time was just amazing.
The location is on the corner of Spring mountain and Arville, next to the ARCO gas staion. Parking is limited, but enough. Restaurant has a simple style feel to it, no extravigant decor or distracting art here. Just 6 tables that hold 8 people and 5 that can hold 12, so large parties can be held if needed. About 120 capacity.
So why did it take me 3 times before the review? I had to see of the first and second time were actually that good. Well guess what, soup and sandwiches were as consistent as the first 2 times. After our favorite Vietnamese sandwich place closed 3 years ago, we had a hard time finding a replacement spot for years. Thought Lee's was it until one of our good friends directed us here.
What ordered:
#1 Eggrolls
# 32 combo sandwich
# 5 combo pho bowl
So obviously from my reviews I'm in love with Saigon 8, but boy did this spot come close. The phone soup base here is good. Like Saigon, they have fresh cut rare flanks, (well at least it tastes like it), and with only one size, the are very generous with the servings. And $1 less a bowl, oooh!
Sandwich is freshly made. Unlike Lee's, sadwiches are served with the bread still warm, and not so hard. They have a house sauce that they use that's to die for. Again $1 less than Lee's, but with quality cuts and better flavor.
So why 4 stars? My reviews aren't based on food only unfortunately. Despite coming in on slow days or times on my visits, service was slow. Great, but slow. Empty glasses, sad faces lol. An improvement on the interior decor wouldn't hurt. But besides that, it definitely worth a try. Very homey style flavors and setting.
I'm happy! lol
