| - If you're looking for a cowboy hat, they got you in spades! Lots and lots and LOTS of cowboy hats. The front room is full of almost nothing but cowboy hats. If you're looking for a panama hat or fedora, they have lots of those as well. And if you're looking for a cap (think Andy Capp), they have plenty of those as well. Good selection of pork pie hats and more hipster type fedoras as well, if that's what you're looking for.
However, I was looking for a derby. A bowler hat, in black. And I have a big head. They had just one brand/style in grey/black and one other brand/style in brown. Neither of which would fit my giant melon. And the brand/style they carried in grey/black was not a good looking style - just not what I was looking for.
The gentleman who helped me was friendly and helpful. He mentioned the bigger size would be coming in the following week and offered to take my number so he could call me when the hats came in. I did appreciate the offer of a call back, but what's the point if you don't like the style/brand.
From the outside, the shop is small. There's a HUGE red HATS sign outside, which somehow I missed. Twice. The building has very small windows, so you can't really tell they sell hats until you're practically up to the door. Once you're inside, you know you're in a HAT SHOP! The place is packed to the gills in hats. Prices were reasonable. I did find some of the same brands online for cheaper, but it's worth the extra price to be able to walk into a hat shop, try on the hat, and try other hats while you're at it.
This shop got 4 stars instead of 5 because they did not have the EXACT hat I was looking for in my size, but in all fairness, that's a pretty tall order. It should really be 4.5 stars. Unless you have a GIANT melon and you're looking for a hat that went out of style about 100 years ago, I'm sure you'll find exactly what you're looking for here.
