Went for lunch and as always we were greeted by the staff. Very nice.
Had the footlong chili-cheese-onion dog on a wonderfully soft bun. Pretty solid chili dog, not over powering nor too bland. Good middle of road chili. Dogs were fresh and cooked through. Cheese felt freshly grated and onions had some bite.
Also, ordered the Italian beef with mozzarella, sweet peppers and mild giardiniera served "wet". First off this sandwich was huge. There's no skimping on ingredients here. Lot's of meat, peppers and cheese. Being from SoCal this was my first experience with this Chicago icon. The one thing I would do differently is order it "dry" with the au jus on the side. Not really down with "wet" sandwiches. I can now cross this off my to-eat list.
Additional I'd like to point out they were very accommodating with one on my kids special request, two plain dogs, just grilled. Also, one of the staff gave a scoop of sherbet on the house after our meal.
Little things like being greeted by a business that is genuinely glad you see you to a free scoop of ice cream add up to a very enjoyable experience. In the words of Arnold "We'll be back".
