| - More than pleasantly surprised...
I was on a mission to find a comfortable, grey fabric sectional that was less than 110 inches in length within a certain price range. I went to 15 furniture stores in 2 days! If the sectional met my colour and length requirement it was twice my maximum budget. For whatever reason if I wanted a larger, brown, or leather sectional it was within my budget.
After spending an entire morning on my second day of hunting, I went to the Calgary Farmer's Market to have a late lunch and saw the sign for Showcase Furniture Consignment. I thought, oh well, 14 stores what's one more? It's a consignment so I likely won't find what I'm looking for but may see something interesting.
I popped in and breezed through and was on my way out the door when the owner stopped me and asked what I was looking for. I told him believing there was no way he could help me. He responded with, I can do that. As well as you can choose from one of my 5,000 fabrics. Really?!!??! Every other place limited your fabric choices from 3 to 11 depending on the design and brand.
He showed me some pictures, asked me for the measurements, and fabric choice. I picked a phenomenal fabric. No extra charge for upgrade. After having gone to 14 stores previously I had a pretty good idea of what fabrics were quality. I thought it would cost a fortune. They did it all within my budget! Completely custom made furniture, meeting all of my criteria was within my budget, and...within two weeks!!! I thought this is too good to be true, but what do I have to lose? If it's crap I can get something else in 2-3 years.
I told him I needed to eat lunch and I would be back in half an hour. I went to the Farmer's Market across the street. Got on my phone and Googled "Showcase Consignment." Found nothing other than they were in business since at least 2003. No Yelp reviews. No complaints. Okay, fine. Good enough for me. I was tired of looking. I went back after lunch and placed my order.
Happy to say I got my beautiful comfy sectional which I still love seven months later. When it was ready within the two weeks I got a call to set up delivery. They ended up delivering it that day! It was a Saturday and the timing and location of my house happened to work for them. I can't say enough great things about my experience.
This is my first Yelp review. I'm not sure if I can post a picture. If it's possible I'll put one up.
