Something for everyone. St. Lawrence Market (SLM) can be a one stop shop for all your needs. SLM is basically an indoor farmer's market and flea market with many vendors selling fresh produce and different knick knacks. Another plus is the variety of food options of almost any ethnic background. Remember to bring cash as some places don't accept card. Independent ATMs are located throughout SLM, but not sure if they're "safe."
SLM offers many booths that sell Canadian souvenirs. Most sell the same souvenirs at different prices, you may need to walk around for the best deal. SLM was winding down when I arrived in the late afternoon, and it wasn't too crowded. My guess is that the best time to come is in the morning for your grocery needs and then stay for lunch. I'm thankful that many booths sold ice cold bottled water. I must have visited Toronto on what seem to have been the hottest day in June. Limited seating throughout, I ate while standing and walking around.
Overall, I had a great experience and would love to come back again.
