  • I am a taxi driver. For 23 years. I'm going to do something unexpected. i'm going to tell you the truth, and what really happens here. First off, don't get played. $20 says the cab /Lyft/ Uber driver asked you if you wanted to get liquor before the car even arrived at Tropicana ave, right? Think about it ... why in the fuck would the driver ask you that ? We could care less about your drinking habits (unless there is something in it for us, anyway). You are being set up by the 'thoughtful and nice driver... yea, right. Then he'll tell you that it's the cheapest and the closest to the strip. (More lies) How convieniant ... Its right across the street from the HardRock hotel on Harmon/Paradise. Notice how he/she walks in with you ? Why ? While you're going thru the ridiculously overpriced selection, the driver will be at the counter with a $2. bottle of water, that he doesn't pay for. He's already told the cashier that he brought you in the store and that he's a cab/lyft/ uber driver. The cashier acts like she's ringing the driver up, but he's actually giving the driver a business card with two $20. bills stapled to it. You overpay, and the driver reaps the rewards. They typically pay the driver between 35 and 40 $. You just got played. If a driver in Las vegas ever asks if you want liquor, here are my 4 suggestions. 1. The Vons on Tropicana/Maryland Parkway 2. The Albertsons on Flamingo/Maryland Parkway 3. The Smiths on Sahara/Maryland Parkway or 4. The Walmart on Tropicana/ McCleoud. All of these stores are supermarkets with a seperate liquor section. They are all open 24-7 and the prices are around 65 - 70% cheaper. Dont be played. if they complain about your choices, tell 'em to go fuck themselves for trying to play you in the first place.
