| - I had an unsatisfactory experience previously at Danny's Carousel Car Wash in Scottsdale and was given a coupon for a "free" wash to help make up for it. I took my car at a later date to the Danny's on Bell to have it washed after a trip, intending to use the coupon. Because I was planning on selling the car the next day I wanted it clean and was willing to pay a little extra for a basic interior detailing (the interior was already in excellent condition).
I was met by a very fast talking hustler outside the was area and he offered what seemed to be a reasonable upgrade that would really make the car show well to a prospective buyer, which included cleaning the engine. We agreed on a price.
The car was kept for almost 2 hours, it was getting dark and the place was closing. I was concerned that it wasn't ready yet and asked once again at the desk how much longer it would be. After another 15 minutes or so I was told they locked the car up for the night. What? They thought I would leave an almost $40k BMW overnight? Do people actually leave their cars at car washes? I asked them to unlock it and bring it around for me to drive home.
By the time I got my car it was night, and being black-on-black it was not easy to see what kind of work they did. In the morning light, however, it was evident that there was waterspotting all over the finish, that there were bits of a shiny liquid here and there throughout the interior where it appeared someone had just carelessly run a rag with some cleaning product over it, and the engine compartment was untouched (yet they charged me $49.99 for it)
I didn't have time to take the car in to complain because I was meeting the new owner, and of course after the car was sold it was pointless to go back and complain. I only know that after two bad experiences with Danny's they seem to be a place that tries to make a quick buck on the first visit and has no interest in building a long term relationship with their customers.
By the way, it's interesting that most of the Danny's locations have a lot more negative reviews except this one on Bell. Employees writing their own reviews? Do yourself a favor and read the reviews from several locations to learn more about the high-pressure up sell, bad attitude and sloppy work.
