| - I am sorry I cannot jump on the 5 star bandwagon with this place. I have waited over a week to leave my review because I wanted to see how things went as the hair started to grow back. Just as I expected, I have red bumps, itching, and ingrown hairs!! Yes I exfoliate and take care of myself, I am not new to waxing and never have issues unless I've received a crummy wax job.
I am however new to AZ and was in need of a wax a few weeks ago, which is how I stumbled upon Sugar Me Wax. I LOVED the place I was going to in CA and I am heartbroken I no longer have them in my life. After doing extensive research online and reading all of the 5 star reviews Sugar Me Wax had, I decided to get a Brazilian done here. First impression was, "Wow this place looks great and the bathroom was spotless!!" I will not say who did my wax as she has many positive reviews and I am not out to tarnish anyone's career or reputation but it was by far one of the worst waxes I have ever received! The entire time all I could feel was tugging, tugging and more tugging. With each tug was excruciating pain. I am used to the, "Take a deep breath, exhale and having just one quick, swift yank and voila, the strip is gone and then move on to the next one." Not here, it was awful! I asked the gal waxing me about Sugaring as I have heard of it but never had it done. She said she is not a fan of it and doesn't like it, but a lot of people do. She was super nice to explain the process to me and even showed me the sugar mix. She attempted to sugar some hair off my arm to show me how it works, but... it didn't work hahaha, non of the hair came off, no biggie! After everything was said and done, I was told that if I leave a 5 star Yelp review I would get $10 off my next visit for any service. I have a feeling that is a big reason why this place has so many 5 star reviews, its not the actual service that is 5 stars, it's the perk of leaving the review. As I was paying for my service, I felt obligated to schedule a 3 week return visit. Why the obligation? Because the gal that waxed me was standing right there the entire time, just waiting. I wasn't about to explain I have no intentions on coming back in front of this poor woman who just told me she loves what she does and has only been doing it for 2 years etc.. So I reluctantly made the follow up appointment. At that time the receptionist reminded me and even handed me a card, that said, don't forget if you leave a 5 star review on Yelp, you'll get $10 off your next service. They really seem to push that there. Like I said, I made the appointment but unfortunately called a couple of days later to cancel it. I gave 2 stars because the place is cute, and inviting. They even have candies and chocolate. The chocolates are really cute, but don't be fooled by the shapes and colors; I was told they all taste the same, kind of crappy. Too bad this place ended up turning out like the chocolate, super nice on the outside but crappy on the inside. The hunt for the perfect wax will continue...
