I come to this place for their salads and baked goods often, because it's so close to my work. After a week of left over pizza and pasta, I wanted one healthy meal to balance out my week and bought a quinoa salad with vegetables. Fatal mistake. Should have stuck to pizza. The quinoa was so undercooked that it was completely white inside, something I didn't notice when I was buying it. I had one bite. Gritty. Too much chewing involved. I would have almost preferred it being overcooked. If I had only paid $3-4 from Sobeys I really wouldn't have cared but it costing almost $8 from a place that sells "fine foods" I wanted my money back or exchange it to something else. I mean, is it too much to ask for some cooked quinoa? Still hungry and sad, I went back to the store. Shout out to the guy that helped me at the cash register, super helpful and vouched for me as I didn't keep my receipt. Then the manager comes to me saying that it tastes fine to him and asks me if I know what quinoa tastes like, because he knows how to cook quinoa. So calling me a Neanderthal without taste buds pretty much. Like really? I was stunned. I left the stupid salad in his hands and walked out. Probably never going to step foot in there again. Like the quinoa, this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth that not even their most delicious baked treats can replace.
