| - We had our wedding reception here 5 years ago and it was simply amazing. We decided to come back last night for our anniversary dinner, and left disappointed.
In scrolling through the reviews now, I realize that the place has had the same issues for years, which speaks to a management issue more than anything else. We had an 8:00 reservation. Our waiter was kind and attentive, and the restaurant extremely busy, but they were out of all four menu items that we wanted. Oooookay, guess I'll have the chicken.... My husband had the pork tenderloin.
Here's where the experience gets very aggravating. We waited an hour for even our appetizer to show up. This was after my husband sternly asked the waiter what was going on. The couple at the table next to us were half done with their entrees by this time and they were seated at least 15 minutes after us. The waiter said it was the kitchen's fault and offered us a free dessert. Fine. The appetizer showed up shortly thereafter. Another 20 minutes later, our entrees and sides showed up - mixed greens and pomme frites. The food was flavorful and would have been more so if the food was warm... It was barely warm and we were so hungry by this time that it we couldn't handle sending it back.
I had the truffles and my husband had some sort of chocolate mousse for dessert. My truffles were nice, his mousse was very heavy and rich. While we were finishing up, I overheard the waiter at the table behind us explaining that the kitchen was busy and sorry for the trouble, here is a free dessert.
At the end of the night, we ended up getting our appetizer, dessert, a glass of wine, a glass of beer, and decaf coffee for free, without asking.
I don't mind paying an arm and a leg for superb food and service. Harvest does not live up to its price point at this time.
