| - It all started 1 year ago when I bought my first home. I received a call stating that if I sat through a home water testing, I wold receive $100 in free gas. I needed a water softener, so I agreed. First, the guy who called me did not explain that they would not speak with me unless my husband and I were both home. So, the poor salesman had to drive all the way back here the next day. The salesman knew nothing about the way water lines are set up or how the company worked. He only knew about the one, very expensive softener that they wanted to sell. After settling on a nice model, he tried to get me to by the RO system. Since I knew nothing about these, and he told me my kitchen cold water would be softened by the new softener, I felt I did not need one. He asked if he could get me a quote on the set just in case I change my mind. I agreed. However, to install the RO, he mentioned that they will need to go under my cabinets. This means tearing them up to run the lines! I told him he was wasting time running the numbers, but if he felt better, fine. He told us that for buying the softener they offered that night, they would pay the first 3 months payments for me, I would get 5 years worth of cleaning products, and they could install the next day. I loved the product, with the lifetime warranty and free upgrade in a few months when available, so I bought it. He said he knew nothing of the $100 in free gas.
Now the trouble starts. I spent the next few days reviewing the company. First, there is very little information on them. I finally found a few comments, all stating the product, made by GE was great, but the people selling it were very shadey and did not follow through on promises. So, I called and asked about our $100 gas card. They told me I had to wait until the loan was approved and the contract signed and returned. I told them since this was promised based upon the visit, not the purchase, I was not returning the contract until the "gift card " was in my possession. I was then told it was being mailed that day. This was one day after the salesman came by.
A week later, no gift card. I called again. The lady said she mailed it. She checked my address. It matched. Then she told me there could be a delay because the salesman was in the hospital after suffering a severe heart attack. She said she cold not get me the gift card until she could speak with him to verify the visit! This, after telling me she had already mailed it, plus she had my contract!!! How did she get it if he had not been to my house? This went on for a month, exactly. At the 30 day mark, she called me, frantic, telling me she will bring me the gift card if I give her the application. If they did not get it that day, the contract was void. She drove to my work and made the exchange. I note that she was wearing sweatpants and looked a mess!
Now comes the reality of what this company is all about. BTW, during the previous month. I spoke with this one lady only. We called the owner, who transferred us to her. The $100 gas "gift card" was actually an expired voucher for up to $100 in one year, a maximum of $10 per month. There was a sticker over the expiration date with a hand written new expiration date. Oh, and she said when she handed me the first one, that she also mailed me another one. I can use both. However, the rules on the voucher indicate if you send in more than one for the same address, they are both void. The voucher program requires you to fill out a card and mail it in. They email you a voucher which you must print, fill out, and mail with a gas receipt. The initial email comes in about 8 weeks. You cannot send in a new voucher until the rebate is received and they send you another email. If anything is not complete or accurate, it voids the whole program. Please allow 6-8 weeks processing between vouchers. Void after 1 year. So, there is no possible way to redeem $100 in one year. The most possible is $60. However, 11 months later, I have still not received my first rebate check, and nobody can explain.
As for the 3 months they promised to pay, they refused. Since my salesman was hospitalized and eventually quit, thy said they could not verify the contract, therefore would not pay anything. Even though it was hand written, by the salesman on the contract. When the loan company called to verify the loan application, the last questions was if I was given all I was promised. I let her know I all the things that Pristine did not honor. She said she could not process the contract unless I was given what I was promised or came to an agreement I was satisfied with. She filed a complaint with Pristine and suspended the contract pending a settlement with me. I received the first productive call from Pristine. They ended up paying one month, not three. They have never given me the upgrade. Please beware and keep everything!
