rev:text	About a month ago, my husband and I called Arizona Small Dog Rescue because we were looking for a poodle mix, under 2 years old. The person who answered the phone was very short and cold to us. Their words to us, "We have lots of poodle mixes. Come in and look. We only take cash." Despite being treated as if they were doing us a favor, we still went to the shelter to look at their dogs. Upon walking in, we were overcome with the smell of dog urine and feces. I understand this is a dog shelter and they DO smell but this was worse than any shelter we looked at. We were hesitant to look any further because of the smell but decided to give it a chance. We waited around to be greeted and after what seemed like 15 minutes, an employee appeared. She never apologized for making us wait and again, we felt like we were putting them out. Feeling very uncomfortable, we decided to leave and go to the HALO shelter. We found just what we wanted and couldn't be happier. I would like to give this shelter a better rating but the comment made to us on the phone, "We only take cash", really turned me off and made me wonder if this non profit was on the up and up. We looked at 2 others non profits and both took cash,check, credit card and debit. Also, I placed this review once before but it was removed for some unknown reason. At that time, I received a message from a volunteer asking me to removed part of my review. Now, that makes 3 different contacts with employees/volunteers of this shelter - phone, in person and message board. All 3 instances were less than pleasant. I will leave my rating at 1 star and hope they clean up their act for the sake of the dogs.
