Let me start by saying that I'm a long time Lowes customer. I've used Lowes for various household improvements as well as major appliances and other merchandise purchases. I was less than pleased to have both a cashier and customer service rep inform me that they would not allow the return of an item purchased over a 1 year ago. The item was upopened, in the same packaging and I presented the receipt. I fully understand the stores return policy however I also know that stores such as this have latitude to make decisions that make good business sense. I even asked for a store credit and was told " we can't do anything for you". In light of the recently announced down sizing of various staff by Lowes it would seem prudent that customer service be placed at the forefront of every customer transaction. I have current plans to continue to patronize Lowes however.this recent lack of customer service makes Home Depot a choice that I have to consider going forward. Currently I drive 3-4 miles out of my way to visit Lowes. I will make Home Depot my first choice for future purchases. I am very disappointed in the lack of customer service. They can do much better and they should.
