| - We couldn't be happier that we gave birth at this hospital. From the classes we took prior to giving birth, the being in labor to emergency situations after, this entire hospital exceeded my expectations.
This was our first baby. First, we took their Breast Feeding and Newborn Classes while pregnant. We found them to be extremely information useful, highly recommend you take the classes!
While in labor at the hospital we had the best nursing staff! I LOVED our nurse, she was the best. Caring, sweet and totally aligned with our birth plan and all the changes we were making to it along the way. Plans change and circumstances will dictate how you proceed with this monumental day, having someone like Nurse Debbie by your side makes you feel supported and cared for along the way. Love Nurse Debbie! We had the best team during our birth and after! The nursing staff while in the post birthing room were amazing too. Everyone was so kind and helpful, we completely felt ready to take our little guy home when it came time thanks to them. Great lactation specialists as well!
Fast forward to 4 days postpartum, our son had Jaundice and our pediatric doc calls and says his bilirubin numbers have spiked and you need to go to the ER. The staff here were amazing too! they got us right in, because who wants to sit in a waiting room during peak flu season with a 4 day old baby? We were so thankful to get a private room in the triage area while we waiting to see hospital staff. The nurse and on call pediatric doc took great care of us and we felt confident in their direction. Best outcome possible, we were not admitted and son is now doing great!
Ok fast forward to 7 days postpartum, we are at home and I (mum) start uncontrollably bleeding. After a few intense moments at home decide to go back to the ER. I get admitted with Postpartum Hemorrhaging, again the nurses are amazing and I was delighted to meet the on call OB from the Valley Women for Women team that I was a patient at during my pregnancy. I had to have a D&C done and spent the night in the hospital. The entire operating team was amazing and made me feel cared for and supported in a scary time. I felt I was getting the best care possible.
We also visited the outpatient labs for continuous testing for our son's jaundice and each time the people taking our babies blood were great. They were fast and efficient which is a blessing when your little baby's foot keeps getting pricked and milked for blood testing, you want it done as fast as possible. Took them less and a couple minutes each time when an off site lab took almost 15 minutes when we made the mistake of doing that once.
So all in all, we experienced many different areas of this hospital for different reasons and along the way felt supported, cared for and like we were in the best of hands. We did not doubt the care we were given and appreciated each person we came into contact with. I was originally planning on giving birth at another valley hospital and I am so thankful I made the switch to a prenatal practice that delivers out of Mercy. The entire experience, even in the worst of times, was the best possible place to be. Highly recommend this hospital!
