| - Not sure how this place has a 3.5-star rating. This is a top-notch resort in every sense. Wifey and I spent a weekend here and felt pampered throughout our stay. This is a self-contained resort with everything you could possibly want, so no need to leave. Of course, if you want to head out, the real world isn't too far away.
Check-in was flawless, from the staff at the desk to the helpful guys that packed our bags and drove them via golf cart to our room. Although they graciously accepted tips, not once did I feel obliged to give one and not once was there any hint that it was expected (unlike other places we've stayed suggesting that "tips are appreciated"). Despite pampering us, I felt no stuffiness or snootiness. All staff were friendly and approachable. Big plus for us!
We opted for a standalone casita. It was meticulously appointed, spacious, and just gorgeous. We felt very secluded and enjoyed the silence of the Sonoran desert. The bed and pillows were perfect. Only negative (very small) was a tricky sliding glass door and a loose water faucet in the wet bar (first-world problems, of course). In-room real wood fireplace was very nice! TV? Um, who cares? We never watch TV in hotels.
I enjoyed a nice run around the impressive gold course (I'm not a golfer, but believe me it looked nice). Wifey and I enjoyed the hiking trail through the boulders. Plenty of things to do for free. Of course, they offer daily activities for a fee.
Amongst the best stays we've had anywhere! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
