I first went to carmine's in new York and wow, I was blown away! They had a carbonara that was beyond amazing! It was hands down my favorite dish. They also have a delicious bread pudding that is nothing like the typical bread pudding you would expect. It's like a light and fluffy cake with flavorful chocolate in it topped with high quality whipped cream and strawberries. Truly blown away.
I passed by this carmine's expecting the carbonara and initially the employees greeting everyone said they had it. We just ate dinner so we left and came back the very next day to have some and our waitress tells us there hasn't been carbonara since about 2 weeks because it got taken off the menu. What?!?! How disappointing.. I almost wanted to leave but I know it's a good restaurant anyways and I tried the pene al vodka which was very good. Not a carbonara but very good nonetheless.
Something to note are the family size portions that they serve so don't be too alarmed when you see $35 for a plate. It's large enough for 3 people or 4 even depending on how much everyone eats.
Overall a great restaurant that I'd suggest trying but I'm just sad my favorite plate is off the menu which was the whole reason I went in the first place.
