| - The worst experience I've ever had anywhere. Arrived tonight and the security at the door who checked our IDs was pleasant. Got to my table with 3 others and sat down. We were excited to check out this new location since we are fond of the Queen St. location.
Our server approached us and said, "It's 3 minutes until last call. What are you drinking?" You could at least say "Hi." No greeting. No name. She looked irritated by our presence. I was embarrassed. No warmth, whatsoever.
We were let in. You're still open. We are paying customers.
My boyfriend had to ask for a drink menu and when she came back, she threw it on the table and walked way.
No exaggeration.
She literally threw it down and turned around without speaking to us. It was awkward and strange, and we talked about how uncomfortable we felt.
I've been in the restaurant industry as a server for 6 years and I don't care how tired I am when I work until 3AM (later than this), I NEVER treat anyone like that. They're human beings and paying customers. If I'm at work, I'm professional. We were baffled and ordered our drinks when she came back. Too late to go anywhere else, unfortunately.
Soon after, she dropped off the bill and said, "Your drinks are coming soon." I've never been given the bill before my drinks either. We waited a while for the beverages. The bill sat in the middle of the table. We had wanted to split it between 2 couples, but we decided to limit our interaction with her since she seemed so annoyed by us, so I paid the bill for everyone instead of asking her for anything.
As I paid, I told her I'm in the service industry and if the employees are bothered, the doorman shouldn't let anyone in so close to last call.
She had the audacity to respond, "If you're in the service industry, you should know last call is at 2am." So what if that's last call?! If he let me in and I'm sat at a table in your establishment, I deserve regular service since you're NOT CLOSED YET. If it hits a certain time, service standards should decrease? I should be watching the clock to make sure I'm not an inconvenience to you? Why have a bar open until that time then? Why have the bar let ANYONE in?
On my rare night off, the last thing I'm doing is looking at my phone for the time. I didn't realize it was 1:40AM nor should I be held accountable to keep track of time when I AM ALLOWED to still order before closing time. No smile, no name, no greeting, no rapport. I emphasized to her that she came up to us without her name and only said "last call is in 3 minutes" which didn't make us feel welcome. She also threw the menu at us. I repeated I still didn't know her name. I said I've never treated anyone like that as a server. She said, "I'm sorry you felt that way." No sincere apology. Still no name.
It's almost 5:30am after this horrendous experience that I'm writing this because I can't believe we got treated like this. I tip 20-25% typically on service because I work in the industry, but not this time. We were treated like trash. Weird vibes, rude service, and never coming back again. You can see in my previous reviews that I leave 5 stars for places because I'm so impressed. I felt so humiliated this time that this had to be left.
