  • People love bashing Food Lion, but I really like this place and the people who work here. It never fails, whatever manager or cashier is standing there when I walk in, I get a warm "welcome" or "hello, how are you doing today sir?" I often see the manager come to the front to help bag groceries, and he always strikes up conversation or at least gives me a pleasant greeting as well. I never get this anywhere else nowadays. In addition, I really appreciate Food Lion's recent inclusion of organic and natural options. For most of 2011, I switched my shopping to more organic focused grocery stores, but I recently ventured back in to purchase a case of beer (cheapest in the area, hands down) and I noticed a drastic improvement in organic selection, ranging from organic yogurts, cheese, milks, chicken, and vegetables. Also, I finally saw Greek yogurt, almond and soy milks, vegan products, health foods, as well as numerous other healthier food options. If anything, go here to buy beer and take a look around. They also have blockbuster $1 rental machines. Ba ba ba booya.
