  • I am normally a very positive person, and am hardly critical of dining establishments, food and service because I KNOW how difficult this industry can be....but last night's experience in this restaurant left such a bad taste in my mouth, that I really feel the need to share our experience with you. My husband and I are from Calgary, and we heard amazing reviews from Calgarians about this restaurant, so on our last night in Phoenix, we made the drive to Scottsdale for dinner. My husband made the reservation for 7 pm, and the person on the other end gave us driving instructions to get to the restaurant. We arrived at exactly our reso time, and were seated immediately. After we placed our drink and food order, a gentlemen (very young and quite immature) decided to stop at our table and lecture us about booking a reservation for 7 pm. He told us that their kitchen closes at 6 pm, so we "should know better for next time to not book so late in the evening." We were told "it's okay for THIS time, but please don't let it happen again." We felt like the biggest inconveniences to these people. Our dinner arrived, and my husband is a quick eater, whereas I am not. I had at least 3/4 of my meal left on my plate, when the young gentlemen returned to our table and took my husband's plate away and put the bill on the table. I have never in my life been treated like this in a dining establishment. It was so very, very rude. I told our server to pack up my meal because "clearly, we were inconveniencing them when they wanted to close up so badly." Of course, he responded with "Oh no, please stay. You are no trouble at all!" But I told him again to pack up my food and we would leave. When we got up to leave, these two young men were hanging out at a table, playing away on their phones. The young, immature gentlemen stood up and started to say "Thank you. Thank you for coming in. Have a good --- " but by that time, I expressed with my middle finger exactly what he could do with the rest of his sentence. He got my point, and stopped talking. I have worked in this industry, so I am not a pretentious snob who knows nothing about late-arriving guests when a kitchen is trying to close. If booking a 7 pm reservation was such an issue for these two boys, then they should have simply told us over the phone, and we would have happily booked elsewhere. As for the food, I have had better. It was not terribly awful, but definitely dry and lacked flavour. I ordered a pork carnitas with a cilantro sauce (no cilantro sauce on plate, which was disappointing). Husband can't even recall what he even ate...so that says how unremarkable the food is. Overall, horrible service. Will not bother with this place again.
