  • My experience was ridiculous. I called ahead to see if they do IV hydration because I had diarrhea for 3 days non stop and that was what I knew I needed. I got there the PA prescribed me a antibiotic (totally unneccesary and I did not fill it) and a pill to stop the pooping. So far going ok. They asked if I wanted IV hydration and I said yes thats what I came in for. I let a student practice my IV and ACTUALLY she did a great job but she was so NOT smart. My Iv was positional and dripping slow so heres what was said about it. 1) the PA student.... well maybe its because you're already hydrated you know? No. I dont know. thats not how IV's work. 2) the PA student..... you shouldnt drink gatorade if your dehydrated.... sugar follows water so you are peeing it all out. YES. You want me to pee that means Im hydrated and every doctor and nurse knows with vomiting and diarhea you need electrolytes. 3) the PA student.... you should only drink water when dehydrated. Yep thats wrong too. They didnt know I worked in a pediatric ER doing this type of education. 4) the PA... come look at this great idea i put a blood pressure cuff around the iv bag to make it drip faster. THEN he came in to manually squeeze it into my vein.... which he totally ciould have blown my AC. Happy that didnt happen. Then a nurse comes in around 10 and says word for word: "I'm gonna go over your discharge information now while you're in here RELAXING, because TRUST me we all want to get out of here on time" I then asked if I could fill my script there as my insurance doesnt cover walgreens or cvs which are the only 24 hour pharm's in the area and their response was sorry we just closed down our system, we could have filled it though. Well thanks for asking folks now I have to wait til tomorrow to stop the diarrhea. Then when my bag was half finished the PA came in and took out my IV saying "Youre hydrated enough" Took my IV out without turning it off so it soaked me and the bed, put my coban on without cleaning up the bloody mess all down my arm and sent me out. Basically they were mad that the IV was slow and I was keeping them past their shift. Even though I walked in the door at 8:30. I will never return here nor allow anyone I know to come here. They are medically incompetent and someone needs to tell the students not to give medical advice.... especially when they are TOTALLY incorrect. I will try to post some pictures if I can.
