| - AHHHHHHmazing!!!
Background: I've been here three times in the past 6 months, the last two times were from my most recent trip. All three visits were with Total Rewards Seven Stars or Diamond tier guests, so I've never paid for my meal or have experienced any sort of wait. Also, these guests receive better treatment than the average Joe (better seats closer to the buffet, special perks), so a normal guest experience might be different, although the food experience should be the same.
My first visit was truly overwhelming. Our party of six were seated in plush, covered booths near the dessert station, and we were on a mission to get the most out of the meal: seafood, seafood, seafood, meat plate, one plate of whatever you want, and dessert. We ate a ton of crab legs and shrimp, plenty of meat, but I truly didn't get to enjoy everything else.
The last two visits weren't quite as overwhelming because you get used to how large and extensive the buffet is (and it is incredibly large), and the navigation is easier. In the last two visits I tried a bit of everything worth trying and that I had room for, and here are some of my favored highlights:
-Snow crab legs: two options - freshly steamed (literally straight out of the boiling pot onto your plate), and chilled + pre-cut.
-Chinese selection: some of the best quality, authentic Peking (roast) duck and crispy roast pork.
-Tuna and salmon poke: some of the only carbs I allowed myself to eat (pictured). These tiny plates were bursting with flavor, freshness, spice and texture.
-Shrimp, mussels, oysters, stone crab claws, specialty seafood dishes: these were ALL GOOD. Great size and quality of each item, especially at a buffet. The stations were always full, so eat your heart out. One of my favorites was the fried soft shell crab on a bed of puree and fresh shaved corn (pictured).
-Meat station: the line was popping to get to this - it's a carnivore's dream with tons of hearty meats. I tried the prime rib here and it was delicious!
-Mac and cheese w/ Hatch chiles: this was some of the best mac and cheese I have ever had. The cheese is strong but not overpowering, and the hatch chiles added a great contrast to the flavor.
-Pizza: in full disclosure, I am not even a pizza fan, but I tried one slice and it was cooked perfectly with a thin, crispy crust, high-quality cheese and excellent flavor. If this weren't such a carb-heavy item I would have eaten more!
-Dessert: Kudos to the dessert/pastry chefs here. I tried almost every single dessert offered and all the desserts were made with such detail and extreme care. They were bursting with unique flavors and not hiding behind the mask of being overly sweet. My favorites were the cheesecake (phenomenal!!!) and panna cotta topped with tropical fruit (amazing!!).
PRO TIP: Diamond tier level get your choice of champagne or king crab legs for the table. Choose the crab legs, obviously (pictured).
I've read over some of the negative reviews of this place, and even as a fairly critical reviewer I struggle with understanding the logic of rating Bacchanal poorly. For a $60 AYCE, you're paying a pretty standard price for supreme quality where every item is expertly prepared with great flavor, detail, and creativity. There was not a single item here I did not enjoy, and I have tried many of them! Well done to the incredible team of chefs who create amazing experiences here; will be back time and time again!
