| - After a trip from hell trying to get to Toronto for business and a family matter, we arrived at the baggage claim area and found our brand new Samsonite luggage had a missing wheel. Not only were we inconvenienced throughout the 36 hours it took us to get there, we now had the joy of dragging or carrying brand new luggage designed to effortlessly roll. Did you ever get a shopping cart at the market with one bad wheel? Same experience. You could gouge the hell out of wood floors if you weren't careful with the bag.
Delta offered no compensation, just "sorry, can't help you, maybe check to see if you have any warranty".
We met with family, took care of business, and found an authorized Samsonite repair facility miraculously nearby. Calling them at 5:30PM (expecting a recording or info on location and hours) I am surprised to have Alex Schossler on the phone, helping me. "can't tell until we see the piece, we might have the wheel here, and if so, we'll take care of it."
9:00AM next day I'm at the store (with my filled luggage as we were on our way to the airport to go home) and I bring in the damaged bag. Alex introduces himself, as do I, and he recognizes our conversation, says " let me see the piece". Two minutes later, he comes back with good news. "we can fix it, it'll be 10 minutes, but I need the bag empty." I dump the contents of the bag into my rental car trunk, hand Alex the bag, and as promised, in 10 minutes, bag comes out rolling on all 4 wheels, perfect as if new. Roll it out to the car, fill it again, off to the airport with our new luggage.
The bag was repaired under warranty, Alex refused to take a gratuity or tip, I couldn't thank him enough for his fast and expert service.
He's also got quite a selection of backpacks, luggage, and accessories all at discounted prices. But the service really stands out here, and the least I could do to say thanks is spread the word. Thank you so very much Alex!
