| - Despite living right over in Lawrenceville, I don't often find myself in Bloomfield. I'm trying to change that and thought Station would be a good start, considering all of the buzz I've been hearing about it. I've noticed when driving by that it always appears to be packed, so I made a reservation just in case (though it ended up not being necessary on a Sunday evening).
There are two sides to the restaurant: the bar (which also has some high tops) and the dining room. Being that it was slow, we were given a choice and opted for the dining room. The atmosphere of both areas is warm, cozy, and inviting.
The menu is not huge, but consists of dishes that cover a whole range of tastes and seems to be very thoughtfully planned. I had a hard time deciding, but eventually went with the tagliatelle (with smoked pork shank, soffrito, parmesan, and a 1 hour egg). The generous portion of pork shank was fall-apart tender and had a great smoky flavor. The egg was a great addition and was delicious with the rich sauce. There was a ton of flavor in this dish.
We enjoyed a beer over dinner, but next time I definitely want to try one of the cocktails (they sounded great). We were given great service and everyone that we encountered was very friendly.
I'm glad to have this as an option close to home for a nice dinner, and will definitely be back.
