The Bad
I called ahead and told them I was refereed to seek ER attention by the United Healthcare Nurseline. I get there, they admit me, do some bloodwork, and then the doctor snips at me when my blood-work comes back, basically accusing me of not taking my SLE Lupus medications. Then they tell me they don't have the equipment to examine a hiatal hernia and that all they can do is keep me on Morphine overnight and release me in the morning to a GI across the street. I refused the Morphine and all narcotic pain management. They allowed me to go home after that and told me to get this:
"Seek prompt medical treatment"
This is a hospital. I thought that's what I was doing. You should have told me you don't have the equipment to treat a hiatal hernia before I came in. They just made a quick buck off United Healthcare. Now, I have to go across the street from the same hospital tomorrow morning to do the same thing they led me to believe they would be doing. Don't go to this hospital unless you have a minor problem. Anything else will be treated with Morphine and confusion.
The Good
They gave me a better stomach medication than I already have.
