| - Let me start by saying that I am WAY impressed with all things Tao. I love their food and the service at their restaurants is among the best trained in existence. Therefore, I was quite disappointed at the service at the Tao Beach Club.
I've dealt with a lot of bouncers, I understand how this goes. BUT, the bouncers at this place were among the most arrogant men I have encountered on my trip. Would it kill you to crack a smile and exercise some professionalism? On my trip I was more impressed with MORE exclusive clubs that had better trained staff than this place who is pretending to be the #1 spot. You're working at the smallest beach club in Vegas, give me a break! The waitresses were sweet and polite, but all looked about 14 years old. Here's how i feel about the female servers. If you put the most professional ninth grader to work at this bar, they would act the same as these bartenders and servers. The ladies were...sweet, but you could tell for most of them, this was their first or only job. I feel that the waiters and staff at Tao's other establishments have months and years of training in experience in professionalism. I really felt like high school children were the only employees here with no real supervision or oversight.
The ambiance is beautiful, well decorated, and everything I thought a Vegas beach club would be in terms of decor. The club itself is very small and the pool even smaller. I kind of felt like we were all crammed on a Brooklyn rooftop. The day beds were amazing and so comfortable, loved lounging on them! But once a crowd starting coming in, everyone was told to move and we were forced onto sofa benches all the way in the back of the club. The set-up is so awkward and actually minimizes socialization. The day beds are filled with people who already know each other and have no need to socialize. Furthermore, 90% of the day beds are full of women who REALLY have no need to socialize because they are already with 9 of their friends. Why would you make it so men (who aren't going to rent girly day beds) have nowhere to go except behind a fence in the back on a bench? The only way to socialize is to walk over to the bed, hope no one shoots you down, and if they do, it's obvious to everyone. Pretty awkward, but luckily, my bestie and I had each other and made our own fun!
The drinks were AMAZING. Their slushee drinks are the best I had in Vegas. The watermelon and lemonade flavors were amazing tasting and I found myself very drunk after even the first one! SO good and really allowed us to have a fun time! However, two doubles, about 16 oz each drink cost us over 50 dollars. So I left both poor AND drunk :) It was a nice way to spend the day, but only because we had each other, the drinks were great, and the sun was shining. Probably would not come back to this place if I visit Vegas again. Tries to be more exclusive and pretentious than is realistic for this place. Judging by the reviews and number of stars, I think many people agree :)
