We've had good experiences with Steel City Movers the last two times we moved. This last time, however, was REALLY bad.
Our estimate was roughly $100.00 off from what we were quoted when we first booked the movers. We were very perplexed because it was quoted at $500 for 5 hours with 2 movers, and ended up being $500 for 4 hours with 2 movers (although it only took 2 1/2 hours...you have to pay for at least 4 hours during the last part of the month...you know...when everyone's moving). Why was it so much for less time? The front office person who gave the initial estimate did not include any of the other costs besides the number of movers and the time needed. So basically the manager we spoke with just blamed it all on the new person. Great customer service *sarcasm.*
Naturally it's an estimate and we understand that, but to be so far off? They should have owned up to their mistake and returned a portion.
On top of that, my husband was accused of being bigoted because he asked them not to move a delicate (and full) jewelry cabinet. When they wrapped the cabinet up (ignoring what my husband said), they said "Don't worry we're S-T-E-E-L City Movers, not the other way around." This naturally made us super uncomfortable. We simply asked them not to move it because it was full and had delicate stuff in it.
The whole experience was just super bad. Will not go with them again and will advise others to do the same.
