| - I'm festive every season, but it for sure starts with Halloween!
This is my second year coming to Halloween Town because it's convenient and less than a mile from home. Located in the Boca Park fashion village in the empty lot across the street from Tivoli Village, this pop-up-patch arrives promptly every year and then packs up and leaves with the season. Both years we came to the patch late in the season, closer to Halloween. However, this year the selection was smaller and a lot more depressing. Many pumpkins were rotting or extremely soft to the touch and easily punctured by a soft push into the base. We asked the employee about the pumpkins health and he said that a lot of the pumpkins were baking in the Vegas sun so they suffered from heat damage. It wasn't quick and easy visit as we anticipated, but we were determined to find something!
The larger pumpkins were all picked through, however the smaller pumpkins were abundant and seemed promising. After going through about 5 separate bins and a thumb full of splinters later, I found a variety that I would deem as the perfect pumpkins.
Pricing seemed average and on par with their competitors. This year, I left with a total of "3" smaller & mini sized pumpkins for $6 out the door. The medium were about $6+, large were about $10+, and the massive pumpkins could go from $50+. They have your standard carving variety, mini ones, white and green minis, speckled, grey pumpkins, red and white Cinderella pumpkins, gourds/ decorative squash, and dried corn in its husk for sale as well. They also sell glow in the dark toys, Halloween hats, and Halloween themed plush toys for about $5 each.
For entertainment (you have to pay to ride) - they have inflatable bouncers and slides, vintage carnival games with plush animal prizes (spotted: hello kitty plush prizes), pony rides, a mini hay maze for little tots, carnival style food/snacks such as: pizza, corn dogs, popcorn, chicken tenders, churros and funnel cakes. They also have an arts and crafts area where you can decorate your own pumpkin with markers and glitter. The staff aren't the most pleasant to interact with, but we deal with it. Also for the Instagram addicts, the photo opps aren't the best - I recommend going to the local Farm or Orchard for that!
CAUTION: lots of splinters on the pumpkin stems, bring & wear protective gloves if you can
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
